The basis of the BOXER-8150AI AI@Edge computer is the Nvidia Jetson TX2 module that contains:

  • Nvidia Tegra “Parker” system on a chip (256-core Nvidia Pascal GPU, dual-core Nvidia Denver 2 and quad-core ARM Cortex-A57 processors)
  • 8GB of LPDDR4 memory with a 128-bit interface
  • 32GB eMMC 5.1
  • Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac module with two U.FL antenna connectors
  • Rich set of interfaces connected to 400-pin board-to-board connector

BOXER-8150AI has 8 USB0 3.0 ports. Jetson TX2 module provides two of them. The remaining six are provided by three dual USB 3.0 controllers connected to three independent PCIe 2.0 [x1] interfaces.

Thanks to this configuration, the BOXER-8150AI is able to process images from eight USB cameras simultaneously. This powerful configuration is perfect for a wide range of computer vision applications like visual inspection, quality control, and facial recognition.

The compact computer BOXER-8150AI features an RS232 COM port for easy integration into industrial systems. It also features a Gigabit Ethernet port, two HDMI 2.0 ports, a microSD card slot, USB OTG, prepared holes for SMA connectors and remote ON/OFF. You only need two 2JW1302-C442B antennas, 180 mm and 100 mm cables to add Wi-Fi connectivity. Install the RP SMA connectors in the prepared holes and connect cables to Jetson TX2 Wi-Fi module U.FL connectors.

Jetson TX2 module power dissipation is up to 7,5W in Max-Q mode or 15W in Max-P mode. BOXER-8150AI has a massive heatsink that keeps the module at the safe temperature even at ambient temperature 50°C.

This compact computer is shipped with preloaded ACLinux-4.4 based on Ubuntu 16.04 with Linux kernel 4.4 and Nvidia JetPack 3.3. If you need a newer version, download the latest image from AAEON web and flash it to eMMC according to the user manual, chapter 3. The image provided by AAEON must be used because the original Nvidia image uses configuration 2 (USB3.0x1, PCIe x4) but the BOXER-81xx series uses 3 (USB3.0x2, PCIe x3). You will need a Linux computer to flash a new image.

You can find more information about the Jetson TX2 module and the SW stack on the Nvidia developer blog and tutorials.
