Nephew of the photograph inventor Claude Niépce de Saint-Victor used glass plates for photography. Their light-sensitive layer consisted of the egg whites mixed with potassium iodide. The use of whipped egg whites was related to his profession - he was a cook. This accidental discovery offered sharper pictures.
