The American company Texas Instruments produced the first microprocessor. Compared with the central unit of a large computer, first microprocessors processed only shorter binary words. However, they had a short calculation time. For the addition of two numbers or one writing and reading cycle, a microprocessor needs memory cycle with a length of only 1 to 2 microseconds.
