The single channel WT1 station, launched on the market some time ago, attracted a lot of attention since it offers significantly higher user comfort and same reliability at the cost of its predecessor – WSD81i (WS81 etc.) as it´s designed for demanding industrial usage ( WT = „technology line“).
This time, Weller introduces the double-channel version named WT2 with practically same great features like WT1, which we introduced recently in our article Weller WT– a station in the „GT“ version for the price of a basic version, but it comes naturally with higher power (150W) and even with one extra bonus. The bonus is that the new WT2 station is also compatible with the micro-soldering tool WMRP as well as micro-desoldering tweezers WMRT.
Advantage of the WMRP micro-tool and the WMRT tweezers is that they use the so-called active tips (active tip technology) of the RT series (or RTW for WMRT) where the heating element is integrated with the tip and together they have a very small overall diameter. This solution enables a very precise temperature control and an excellent heat transfer resulting in a comfortable soldering also on very dense PCBs.
Naturally, WT2 is also compatible with the universal / favourite tools like WSP80, WP65 as well as new WTP90 with a motion sensor. It is exactly the WT2010 version with the WTP90 tool (as well as a standalone WT2) that we have as a standard stock item.
The WT2 station is considerably more expensive in comparison to the single channel WT1, but still relatively affordable taking in mind that it can replace two single-channel stations and mainly it´s compatible with all Weller tools available to this WT line, including the miniature WMRP tool suitable also for truly delicate “surgical” work.
The WT series thus already offers three stations - WT1, WT1H (150W) and the new WT2.
WTHA1 hot-air soldering station also belongs to the WT series and the Zero Smog TL kit fume extraction unit is also compatible.
